What is Remedial Massage?

Remedial Massage focuses on the treatment of damaged, knotted, tense or immobile muscles. The therapist uses various techniques and pressures to locate troubled areas and work them out. Their aim is to improve posture and flexibility, relieve sore muscles, prevent/ manage injury and improve performance.

What happens during a Remedial Massage?

The therapist will assess your movement and pain to then map out a treatment plan to best assist the area of complaint.

Various techniques are used such as longitudinal and cross fibre gliding, myofascial tension therapy and trigger point release. The therapist will guide which the most effective techniques to use.

Whilst working directly on an area of complaint will assist with decreasing pain/discomfort and restoring function, a remedial massage therapist is trained to understand the function of the body and movement and may find that treating a surrounding area of the body will assist in greater measure to the presenting problem to best ensure longevity of the treatment and reduce risk of recurrence of injuries.
